A haunted house tales that's considerably better than the 'Amityville Horror' sequels, with Greg Evigan (TEK WAR) and Alexandra Paul (CHRISTINE, THE PAPERBOY) moving into an old Irish mansion she inherited from her witchcraft practicing ancestors. Strange things start to happen, like their daughter's 'imaginary' friend, who is really the ghost of a murdered young girl, and the startling appearance of a ferocious loooking spectral monster. When the family asks for help from the local priest he reveals that he batled the evil forces in the house once before and was successful in keeping them at bay, sealing them up with a magic amulet imbedded in the basement wall. Unfortunately Evigan had pried this magic talisman out, releasing all the evil spirits. Just when everything seems to be resolved these ethereal creatures possess his wife, preying upon her insecurities, transforming her into a raging lunatic, a la Jack Nicholson in THE SHINING. Though somewhat typical and predictable it is refreshing to see that the characters readily believe what they see and accept that supernatural forces are at work rather than wandering around, pretending they don't.
