A college student named David Blake (Dirk Benedict) is hired as a lab assistant by Dr. Stoner (Strother Martin). Dr. Stoner works with snakes, and he's concocted serum that can transform a human into a King Cobra. While working at his home facility, he falls in love with Stoner's daughter, Kristina (Heather Menzies of the Logan's Run series). But Stoner is somewhat ruthless. He kills another college professor, who threatens him, by placing poisonous snakes in his home. By the time David realizes what's going on it's too late--and he's transformed into a snake. The ending sequence has him being attacked by a mongoose, with his girlfriend screaming. This is a fairly relentless horror movie, without the typical Hollywood happy ending. Recommended.
