This is an painfully boring movie. A young Japanese woman has strange dreams about an old house, which leads her to contact a friend at a videogaming company. The company is working on a haunted house type videogame. The young woman has just inherited the house that her father lived in, someone she never knew. Once at the house they see all these strange paintings and it turns out that her father was a famous artist. She also keeps on having images of looking up a long staircase and seeing a small child. Then, she and the video guy (who is videotaping everything so they can incorporate it into the game) discover the mummified bodies of children, who had disappeared during the past twelve years. They try to leave but their car is smashed when a tree falls on it.She eventually finds out she had a twin and that the twin was probably committing these murders out of revenge. By the way, it's explained that ST. JOHN'S WORT, which is a yellow flower, was used in ancient times to represent 'revenge', hence the title. There's a surprise ending that's somewhat ludicrous. There are also many many problems with this film. Everything is colored with these green and purple colors which is very distracting. Maybe they were trying to make it look like a video game? The cutting between the game and the real-life exploring of the house just doesn't work and is far too jarring. The pacing and editing also make it a chore to watch, as there's no suspense. And whoever was responsible for dubbing this in English should be whacked upside the head-the voices just don't match the characters and don't even attempt to match the character's lips. Sure, it's Japanese you're dubbing over but this looks worse than in an old Godzilla movie!Bad bad bad!!!!
