Italian STAR WARS ripoff that I actually saw in the theater as a kid! I remember it well because someone in the rowdy audience behind me actually threw gum in my hair and it took forever to get it out! The movie? Well, loved it then and love it now. What can you say...it's Caroline Munroe decked out in a skimpy bikini and thigh high black boots, chillin' with a hip robot that sports a hillbilly deluxe accent and they're fighting the bad guys! And the evil ones trying to rule the galaxy include a badly dubbed Joe Spinell, doing his best to channel a combination of both Darth Vader and the Emperor. So let me repeat: it's JOE SPINELL and CAROLINE MUNROE, the MANIAC team, hamming it up in outer space! The special effects still aren't so special but are passable for the cheeseball storyline and I loved the end battle where the frontline warriors are inside tubes that look like bombs which open up when they land and out they come, ready for action! This movie had some innovative ideas despite the paltry budget it had. Plenty of laser fights, good triumphs over evil, and as I mentioned, it's something seeing ol' Frank Zito, the MANIAC himself, gazing out into the stars on a Star Destroyer type of deck. Just super cool! And wow, did I mention...Caroline Munroe in a bikini and thigh high boots? Come on, what are you waiting for?!?!
