On World Peace Day the plan is to make all nuclear bombs obsolete by setting off an experimental pulse. But this inadvertently turns everyone into burn scarred, yellow-eyed zombies. The only humans not transformed are those protected from the blast. This includes several people who work in a casino in Reno. Two of them are a sort-of-couple, who are always fighting, and there's a gay guy. They are soon joined by a television personality who had willingly sacrificed another to escape the flesh-eating hordes. Eventually a group of army guys show up (don't they always), led by Ramsey (Lance Reddick of FRINGE), and begin to take over.
This zombie movie offers absolutely nothing new to the overused zombie genre. There are elements of everything from NIGHT OF THE COMET (with people turned to zombies overnight) to Romero's LAND OF THE DEAD (using fireworks as a distraction) and back again to DAY OF THE DEAD (with zombies figuring things out and becoming more intelligent). Watching this nearly turned me into a bleary-eyed zombie! Not recommended.
