Rob Lowe (SALEM'S LOT) portrays an Army Reservist who returns home from Iraq after witnessing a terrible tragedy. His unit killed a van-load of Iraqi kids and teenagers who failed to stop at a check point - and he blames himself for their deaths. But once he returns home he's plagued by nightmares of the burning girl - and also has visions of another Arabic person, someone he's never seen before. This particular ghost will not leave him alone until he solves his death and gets justice, though in the process it may drive him insane.
This 'Sequel' in name only is darkner in tone than the original and is far more gruesome. I also thought it was interesting that none of the characters in this film are particularly likable until something REALLY bad happens to them, at which point they become more human.
I can see STIR OF ECHOES as a decent new franchise, about people who suddenly become aware of this 'ghost world' about them. With shows like SUPERNATURAL and MEDIUM why not even make a weekly TV series?
