It's not bad enough that a meteor shower has damaged the air filtration unit on the Moonbase--they've brought alien spores with them that contain a fast-growing bacteria. One of the scientists, who takes a sample, cuts herself on a vial and soon gets sick--and passes out. When she awakens she appears six months pregnant. The station's doctor, Lance Krauss (Brendan Fehr of the tv series ROSWELL) wants to help her but the commander, Colonel Gerard Brauchman (Christian Slater) wants her to remain in isolation. The woman gives birth--but we don't know to what--until it shows up for a meal and bites another crew member, Bruce. It looks like a baby version of the Nosferatu-like vampires in BLADE II, though it rapidly grows into a replica of Bruce.
STRANDED is a lot like SPECIES, only with a nerdy looking alien instead of Natasha Henstridge. This throwback movie also reminded me of the Roger Corman produced ALIEN rip-offs of the 80's. It's claustrophobic, with gooey special effects, and actors who have seen better days and higher production value.
