Released a few years back on video, this program went on to shock and entertain viewers across America in supernatural fashion. This new DVD edition, with hours of extras, takes things to the 21st Century level of entertainment! The story is told through the eye of a grumpy and sarcastic videographer as he and a group of individuals (including a professor and a psychic) investigate the decaying Smith Garrett Building, an abandoned NY insane asylum with a murderous past. Their mission- to make contact with malefic spirits that may reside there and solve the mystery of the psychic's mom (who died there years ago under mysterious circumstances). Once locked inside, tempers flare and nerves are jangled. Discussions turn to accusations. The university professor disappears after the psychic makes contact with possible evil spirits. The group of investigators are jolted into panic by (apparitions?) we glimpse at unexpected intervals. There's more than a few sequences where you'll get an unexpected shock---watch this bad boy with the lights on, I'm warning you! From there, it's sheer pandemonium as the group of rapidly dwindling investigators simply try to stay ALIVE from the evil they have brought out! The Smith Garrett Building is nowhere I'd want to be after midnight, that's for sure! The ending is very creepy and satisfying, you'll feel a chill run down your spine for sure...There are tons of bonus materials on the disc (this must be Sub Rosa's most extensive release yet!), including director's commentary, 5 Volumes of the Red Files TV Show (which STRAWBERRY ESTATES inspired---think really cool IN SEARCH OF...type of topics, like BIGFOOT!), trailers, the abandoned original version of this flick, a behind-the-scenes featurette, photo gallery, AND MORE.STRAWBERRY ESTATES is well worth picking up on DVD, it provides plenty of thrills, chills, and endless hours of entertainment for horror fans looking for subliminal scares and spooks. Wipes the floor with that Witch named Blair, too!
