George Romero helped produce this quality, creepy TV series back in the mid 80's and it remains one of the better horror-oriented shows ever made if you ask me. Some great writers, actors, and FX artists helped this show rise above some of the other more piss poor attempts we've seen at horror on television. Though not all episodes were successes, the good far out numbered the bad, and quite often we got something outstanding. I grabbed this tape at random and it had 4 out of 5 cool episodes. The Yattering and Jack is a fun lil' tale of a man who outwits his personal demon, enslaving the nasty creature forever. This one, written by Clive Barker, is more fun than scares, but is still cool. The Milkman Cometh, made from a story by Charles L. Grant, is a weird one that packs the obligatory sick ending. I think this was the best episode on the tape. It was a weird idea, which made for a cool story. Be careful what you ask the Milkman for, you just might get it! Comet Watcher was the worst episode on the tape, fast forward. Monsters in My Room was decent and starred a very young Seth Green as a kid with a room full of monsters. However, his stepfather proves to be the worst monster of all and a chickenshit when it comes to right down to it. Nice to see monsters being helpful for a change. Finally, all writers or struggling writers will relate to Printer's Devil. Magic from an obese agent helps our struggling author here become an overnight sensation. Fame does cost and the mix of magic and voodoo here require a nasty animal sacrifice for the success to continue. The final sacrifice made here looks to be a big one. I'm sure that this how the publishing industry really works. Overall, these tales add up to a good time and show why Tales From the Darkside enjoyed a good albeit too short run.
