The earth is splitting apart because of what looks like a meteor impact and Australia is the last area on earth to be affected by the oncoming fire storm. Freddy (Daniel Henshall) is on his way to a friend's "end of the world" party and along the way encounters a lot of violence. But one thing he sees he can't walk by--a ten-year-old girl being dragged screaming into a house by two guys who are going to rape her--and so goes to help. He ends up killing them--and gains a traveling companion. She's in search of her father, who has gone to a place called "Genesis". He manages to get to the party but they are all on drugs and there's a crazy woman who insists the girl is her daughter. He ends of leaving--and goes in search of the girl's father. And in the end he realizes what's important to him--another woman, who is pregnant, who he had left earlier in the day. He goes back to her, reunites, and together they witness oblivion.
THESE FINAL HOURS is a decent enough end of the world movie--but it may seem very familiar if you've seen more than two of them.
