This alien invasion movie had a really weird vibe to it, maybe because it comes off so serious. It seems that teenagers in a small town are disappearing. One of them is turning eighteen years old and his parents (Bruce Boxleitner and Nana Visitor) are extremely concerned about his health. They allude that he's going to be going through some 'changes' soon-and he has no idea what they are talking about. It turns out that the town was taken over by some type of aliens a while back, creatures which came from a crashed meteor. They possess the bodies of humans and transform them, though some of the transformations go awry and the results are horrendous-these creatures look exactly like those big orcs from THE TWO TOWERS. Nasty.Since their bodies are changed and they don't bleed like normal humans, they need touch ups-and who better to do that than a down and out plastic surgeon (Corbin Bernsen) who caters to their needs. There's also a blonde woman (Allison Eastwood, the daughter of you know who) who is investigating what's going on. Her and the teenager join sides and they uncover the truth. The movie has an open ending-which makes me think this was a pilot for a failed television series. The idea is similar to the ending of the original SALEM'S LOT movie, with them both hunting-and being hunted by---these alien creatures.
