Arthur Everest lives in a world where superheroes-and villains-exist. In fact, his father was killed by The Terror (Jackie Earle Haley) when he was a teenager and that event has affected his entire life. It's very clear he has problems, through the concern of his police-officer sister. Then, one day, he encounters a new hero, The Tick, who encourages him to be a hero. This version is very different in tone than the previous 2001 series. It's much more serious, and there's doubt as to whether the Tick is real or just a part of Arthur's damaged psyche. It's interesting but I can't really say I enjoyed it.
