Director Tobe Hooper brings us another horror film that follows the basic horror formula of the 1980's. A mystery mixed with madness and murder all based around the infamous apartment building that housed the legendary Black Dahlia. In Hollywood, the young teacher Nell and her husband, the fresh out of med school Steven, move to an old building called Lusman Arms. Some sixty years ago, the place was glamorous and upscale, but presently is completely in shambles, where many dwellers have disappeared along the years. While her husband is working in the hospital, the lonely Nell hears some weird noises and becomes afraid of the place. While jogging, she is introduced and becomes close to her neighbor Julia and they schedule a hike together on the next day. Julia never shows up, and Nell looks for her in the building, finding a hiding block behind the wall, where an evil being, which was born from death, lives with many dead bodies. When the secret is discovered by Nell, the showdown begins with the undying supernatural killer. With the usage of many different toolbox impliments, the killer gives us an array of many different and extravegent murders that seem to overshadow the performances of the actors much like the Final Destination series. For anyone who loves a great horror movie this is not for you, but if you do enjoy extra special graphic violence without a strong plot then this is the film for you.
