In this "Third Season" of the show, all the children of the world stop what they are doing and speak in unison, proclaiming "We are coming, we care coming". Then they resume their activities, as if nothing had happened. Some type of alien is on its way and it terrifies the authorities who know about it. In the meanwhile, the government is trying to kill Jack Harkness, the leader of Torchwood, along with the other two surviving members from Season Two, Gwen and Janko. However, their cool underground base is destroyed and they have to hide out and figure out what's going on. They want to kill the team because Jack was involved with these aliens the first time around, over forty-years ago.
The authorities are sent instructions to build a chamber in which the alien "ambassador" can appear in, which includes a specific mixture of gases it can breath. When it appears it looks like something out of John Carpenter's THE THING.
This is a very intense, creepy story, by far the most dire predicament for Torchwood yet. When it's revealed exactly as to why these repulsive aliens want 10 percent of the Earth's children, it is something truly horrible. Harkness figures out a way to stop them but he has to make an equally horrible sacrifice to implement his plan. After I watched this I can help but wonder how they can ever have a fourth season of TORCHWOOD. This mini-series changes everything.
