Based on the popular toys that transform from machines into giant robots, this live-action movie from Pearl Harbor director Michael Bay finds the planet Cybertron inhabitants engaging in a secret war for control of Earth's natural resources, which they desperately need for fuel. Able to disguise themselves as cars, airplanes, boats and more, the transformers prove a tough enemy in this film starring Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel and Jon Voight. -netflix
I was not a huge Transformers fan growing up. Alot of my friends were... so I was familiar with the characters and plots and played with the toys on occasion. Even though I was more of a Star Wars kid... I was very much looking forward to seeing this flick... and I was not disappointed. The story was fairly well done, and they did a good job of feeding you the back story along the way in case you weren't familiar with it. The robots looked awesome, especially when they were transforming. The action was fast and furious and the effects provided many a "wow" moment while watching.
Shia LaBeouf turned in another great performance, and he continues to be one of my favorite young actors. Megan Fox also did a great job, although I spent more time focusing on just how damn hot she is more so than her acting. The rest of the supporting cast also did a great job, but the true stars of this flick were the robots! I can't say enough about how great the special effects were... from the visuals to the sounds... it was quite mesmerizing.
I caught this in the theater and also saw it on DVD... but this is one of those ones that you really need to see on the big screen to fully appreciate. If you weren't lucky enough to see it on the silver screen... I still recommend that you rent it, crank up the sound and enjoy! This one is great for Transformers fans or just fans of great action and science fiction movies!
