David Arquette's directorial debut, THE TRIPPER, is FRIDAY THE 13th meets THE REPUBLICAN PARTY.
The premise is that a group of pseudo hippies go up to a concert in the Redwood forest to listen to music and drop a lot of acid. The main character is a blonde, who has just broken up from her unlikely boyfriend (Balthazar Getty). He wears a suit and is as opposite from these hippies as you can get. In fact, it's seems as if he may indeed be the serial killer. And the killer, by the way, wears a Ronald Reagan mask when he kills with an ax or chainsaw - and his killer dog's name is Nancy. There's plenty of gore, some good chainsaw murders and lots of weirdness. It's a good slasher movie for the 21st Century, smart and knowing it's predecessors well. Perhaps a better title, though, would have been 'PRESIDENT'S DAY'?
