THE TUNNEL is an effectively creepy and depressing short film about death. A man is shown getting ready for work in the morning, repeatedly cutting himself with his razor but doesn't seem to feel it. Once at work, he sees dead bodies continuously wheeled by his open door. There's little reaction on his part. Mark Borchardt (AMERICAN MOVIE) makes a brief cameo as a cardplayer in the game of life and death and Troma head honcho Lloyd Kaufman gives an unsettling, clownlike performance. On one hand, THE TUNNEL comes off like a student film. On the other hand it accomplishes its goal. Directed by Ramzi Abed.
