This second movie in the series makes the first seem like a high speed action film.
Bella Swan and Edward the vampire are together but this soon changes when one of the other Cullen vampires attacks her after she gets a bloody paper cut. Edward tells her that their relationship was a mistake and that they are all moving away, never to be seen again. Bella falls into a deep depression and doesn't hang out with any of her human friends. However, she discovers that anytime she is in danger Edward appears to hear in this sort of ghost-image and warns her to be careful. Since this is the only way she can ever see him she keeps on putting herself in harm's way. Which gets a little redundant after a while. She convinces her Native American friend Jake to help her rebuild a motorcycle. She wants the danger of riding it--he just wants to hang out with her.
Things change when Jake begins to change. He disappears out of sight and doesn't return any of her phone calls until she finally goes to his house. He warns her away and says he can't tell her what he's going through. But she soon finds out he's a werewolf, along with several other members of his tribe who have the genetic disposition.
Except for some interesting bits with these giant werewolves and the vampire leaders, the Volturi, which amounts to about twenty-minutes out of the two hours, this whole melodrama is exceedingly boring. It is definitely not something to howl about.
