This trio of stories is done by three different directors-Tim Ritter, Joel D. Wynkoop and John Bowker. John Bowker's tale, BETRAYAL, is about a woman (Shannon, a regular of Bowker & Joe Sherlock) who puts a curse on her boyfriend once she finds out that he is cheating on her. Yet, what she has seen isn't exactly what she thinks it is-and her curse goes horribly wrong. Joel Wynkoop's THE PART (in which he is also the lead) is about a 'reformed' insane killer who is released from the mental institution and pursues his dream of becoming an actor. He auditions for the part of a serial killer in a low-budget horror movie-and the casting directors tell him to go out and practice being insane in preparation for re-auditioning for the character. He does just that-and in the process undoes what all those years of therapy accomplished. There's also a good twist ending that explains why he was so easily released back into the public. And the last segment, DEXTER DEADBEAT, is about a woman being stalked by this insane man-who is after her for what turns out to be the unlikeliest reason of all. There is no connecting story between the segments, which I tend to prefer in anthologies. What they have in common are character-based stories with good twist endings and it's always good to see these directors' work. Available on DVD from Sub-Rosa Studios at www.b-movie.com
