Tease 'em please 'em Jess Franco is back and it looks like he's shooting on video and has access to a Video Toaster in this new erotic romp. His scaled down equipment doesn't seem to dampen his enthusiasm or the overall content of what he delivers, so his fans should be happy.Heading ever more into the 'erotic fetish department' than ever, VAMPIRE BLUES tells the tale of a young woman who does a lot of topless sunbathing on the beach and is eventually seduced by what looks to be two competing females, one whom is a vampire and the other who is some sort of psychic. Beyond that, there's very little plot, but plenty of stylistic full-frontal female nudity and, uh, well, plenty of action with the ladies rolling around together. The weapon of choice in the end that stops the vampire is most, uh, intriguing. Haven't seen one of these items used quite like this since (associate producer) Hugh Gallagher's GORE WHORE.There's very little gore to speak of in this flick and the highlights of this movie (female flesh aside) are the creative camera work that is coupled so well with an acid-trip feel of colors and bizarre camera filters. Women are filmed through glass bottles, in reflections, in backlight, and everywhere, so if you're a connoisseur of the female form being presented in a variety of new ways, you will enjoy this element of the movie. I also liked the 'spinning camera effect' at the end of the movie during the threesome battle of the women (yep, you read that right!). Looks like Franco's been watching some Sam Raimi flicks and taking notes!Franco himself makes an appearance in the flick, and all the ladies (Analia Ivars, Rachel Sheppard, and Franco regular Lina Romay) are sexy and delightful in their parts, obviously enjoying what they are doing to their intended audience...Franco is an acquired taste, but he has legions of fans here in the U.S. and you should be able to pick this romp up in Best Buys across the country. The DVD is top-notch in authoring, production, and extras. There's the U.S. version of the movie, the European (more graphic) cut, Photo Galleries, a music video, and much more. The Spanish beaches and scenery add another production value to the movie, you can almost feel the heat---along with the heat the three lovely ladies generate in the proceedings!
