This Kick ass Japanese film combines some great action (both gunplay, swordplay, and hand-to-hand fighting), zombies, and gore to make you feel all right. I always see people talking about (even on the damn box for the movie) how this movie is like Evil Dead. Well, honestly, it's not at all. Versus definitely is its own thing. Sure, there's a forest of resurrection with zombies abounding, but how is that like Evil Dead. The stylish slow-mo work reminds me of John Woo and The Matrix more than Dead. Yeah, it has zombies in the woods, so do 100 other movies. Versus is a wild movie bringing past to present as two ancient warriors battle for all the marbles and the darkside. There's more crap going on here than I have time or space to write on, do yourself a favor, get a copy or dvd. You won't regret. The gore, especially at the end exceeds just about any action film you'll see these days. This film moves fast and furious, you will not be bored even though it runs 2 hours. Along with a few other modern movies, Versus let's me know Japan is really on the cutting edge of horror and action these days!
