A woman named Georgia (Radha Mitchell/ PITCH BLACK) goes on a lone sailing trip for 160 days-and starts hallucinating that she's seeing ghosts and pirates.A cosmetics company has sponsored her voyage and in return she has to maintain a good image, which is sort of difficult when you're going crazy...The movie cuts back and forth from the present, when she's on the sailboat, to moments in her past, primarily with her father and mother. Her father is crippled, after having saved her from an accident when she was a child, and her mother (Susannah York, SUPERMAN) is nuts and suicidal. While Georgia is on the boat she learns of both of her parents dying-but only after she has 'visitations' from both of them, which makes you think they are actually ghosts. There are also these pirates she's constantly warned about-and in a few scenes she thinks that they've snuck aboard. Although much more real we're still not sure if she's imagining all of this. Reality and fantasy become indistinguishable. This is an interesting movie and it keeps you guessing. The ending is sort of a cop out and far too ambiguous but the movie up until then was smooth sailing.
