One of the most disturbing movies this reviewer has seen in a long time, a David Lynch like Japanese movie about a town taken over by a vortex. The movie starts off deceptively slow, mostly about the relationship of a high school girl with her male friend, who seems to want to protect her. Nothing strange happens. But after the first half-hour the weirdness starts, with her friend's father becoming obsessed with the Vortex, those twisting shapes you see on things like snail shells. And then more people start becoming taken over, all showing in different ways. Some of her fellow students start moving really slow, developing these strange humps on their backs-which turn out to be snail shells. There's a scene where you see these two human snails sliding up the side of a building that is just f*cked up. And the movie gets weirder and creepier until the end. You have got to see this movie.
