A time portal opens up in the middle of the woods and out comes a young warrior girl, Athena, quickly followed by robotic tentacles, which she slashes. The monster and the hole disappears and she sees that a couple who are camping have witnessed the whole thing. She takes out a device, identifies them, then tells them they have two choices. They take the better of the two. Then, we go to the life of Will Jin, a bright student in a junior high school. Athena shows up as the new student and takes an interest in him. When she attacks him she says that he'll grow up to destroy the world and become a half human/half cyborg despot. She tries to kill him but he convinces her not to, saying he can change. Also, he doesn't believe her that he'll become an evil despot. There's also the school's Principal Rhodes (Thomas F Wilson of BACK TO THE FUTURE), who takes a very close interest in Will. At the end of the episode we find out why—and this presents a whole different dilemma.
This pilot is a bit kid oriented but it's cool, sort of like a Junior version of THE TERMINATOR. Recommended.
