A young girl's mother commits suicide by hanging. Twelve years later that girl, Clare (Joey King), is having trouble in high school. She's also embarrassed by her father (Ryan Phillippe), who is always rummaging in dumpsters for junk. It's here he finds a strange Chinese music box he gives to her-and it has the ability to grant seven wishes. The first wish is that she wants the popular girl who torments her to "Rot" and the next day that girl awakens to find herself with a flesh eating bacteria. Then she wishes to become popular and also to get the inheritance of a rich uncle, But there's a blood price for each wish-someone she knows is killed in a horrible way. She gets the help of a friend, Ryan, and eventually her two girlfriends, who all tell her to get rid of it. Only if she does the wishes will become undone. Then there's the other half of the movie, in which she tries to "fix" things and it's not entirely unpredictable. This is a good horror movie, along the lines of THE MONKEY'S PAW if done as a LIFETIME MOVIE.
