This decent witchcraft flick was made way back when but still has a few very good and atmospheric scenes. I particularly liked the scene in witch the old hag gets turned back into a young lusty which. She even comments that she hasn't seen a man look at her in that way in 50 years. Wow, I guess that's along time to go without poking for a witch huh? There were actually a lot of hot looking witches running scantily clad through this picture. There were also some killings (unto Satan of course), sacrifices, plenty of incantation like dialog, and a crazed warlock who is the head honcho of all this fun. Luther the berserk is prowling the Louisiana Bayou country being an evil man when he spys the site of a hot little blonde. He decides that she is the perfect fit to restore his coven to 13 again. The girl is part of an expedition into the swamp to investigate psychic phenomenon and mumbo jumbo stuff. For 1969, this had some blasphemous and brutal stuff going down. The foggy swamp makes for a good place for witches and warlocks to hang out as well. It doesn't have a huge body count nor is it gory, but The Witchmaker is still very entertaining. Track down the uncut print with the real ending, as the general video release tape's ending sucks. This movie is also known as Witchkill on the old Lettuce Entertain You video label, but that cut off ending reeks. If you want to see backwoods witchcraft shenanigans, then this here might be your best brew.
