In Texas, a young girl named Amy falls in love for the new guy in town, who is a loner. But there are some cattle mutilations and the local farmers think it's a wolf. It turns out to be a lone werewolf, the same guy who the girl is dating. Not too far away, in Houston, there's another, older, werewolf, who is killing people. Eventually the two meet up and it's no big surprise that they are father and son.
Actress Maria Conchito Alonso (RUNNING MAN) portrays the town's sheriff and Chris Mulkey (TWIN PEAKS) is Amy's father. There's also small parts with Sid Haig as a redneck and the always creepy Billy Drago as a guy who is after the werewolves.
WOLF MOON isn't a bad low-budget movie, better than both the recent ANIMALS and NEOWOLF. It even has some cool looking werewolves that are the old-fashioned kind, more like the Paul Naschy lycanthropes than anything else. The only thing I thought unnecessary was the "TWILIGHT"-esque beginning and voiceover by the girl, which seemed out of place with the rest of the movie.
