In this paint-by-the-numbers ghost story, Harry Potter portrays a young lawyer who is sent to a remote English village where he has to go to an old secluded mansion and find some legal documents. Everyone in this town is weird--and many of them have lost children to horrible accidents. In fact, the opening scene shows three little girls, seemingly possessed, jump out the top floor window of a building. And because of this stranger's presence, the ghost begins picking off more children, something you normally don't see in a modern day movie.
This newest Hammer movie features great atmosphere, special effects and plenty of jolts, though this is more akin to the feeling of walking through a haunted house than because of anything psychological. Recommended but don't expect anything new.
