The best time of Gary King's (Simon Pegg) life was in high school--and that's pretty much where he's remained, mentally, for the past twenty-plus years. He reminisces about how he and his four friends dried to drink their way through all the pubs in their home town and never quite made it. So now he approaches them all, some of whom he hasn't seen in years, and convinces them to give it another go. But much to Gary's dismay, no one recognizes him, which makes sense considering the weirdness they are about to encounter. Most everyone in town has been replaced by what appears to be blue-blooded duplicates. But why? More important, will the gang be able to finish their beer fest despite the interruptions?
This is a fairly unpredictable, hilarious apocalyptic movie with a satisfying ending for a change. If you like Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz you'll enjoy this science-fiction comedy from the creators of those two movies.
