This second sequel begins with two couples kayaking down a river in the woods of West Virginia. Within the first nine minutes of the movie we see naked breasts, hear the obligatory reference to DELIVERANCE and witness two murders by bow and arrow by a cackling hideous mutant.
The story then goes to a group of prisoners who are being transferred to another penitentiary. For one of the guards, Wilson, it is his last day of work before he goes off to law school. Two of the prisoners, a Neo-Nazi and a Hispanic guy, are planning to somehow break out and escape. One of the other prisoners is really an undercover cop who wants to prevent their departure. But during the ride on the prison bus, on an isolated stretch of road, the mutant hillbillies, in their pickup truck, manage to drive them off the road. The barbed wire they dragged in front of the tires did the job. The bus flips over and catches on fire. Everyone gets out but the prisoners get the upper hand. Since Wilson is a local to the area they force him to lead the way. Instead, he leads them in circles, hoping the police will come.
The mutants, a father and son, start to pick them off one by one. Then the prisoners manage to capture the younger one and kill him, sticking his decapitated head on a stick. This enrages the father and the slaughter continues. Things get even more complicated when the group stumbles upon an old, crashed armored car which still contains a ton of cash. The prisoners grab as much as they can but it slows them down.
The confrontation eventually ends at the mutant's house, between Wilson and the mutant and it looks like they are home free. However, some days later he goes back to the armored car and starts taking the money....a huge mistake.
WRONG TURN 3: LEFT FOR DEAD Nicely rounds out the trilogy, getting back to more of the scenario of the first film.
