Batman, Green Arrow, The Flash and Aquaman decide to give their "sidekicks" a chance to join the Justice League of America. Only when they get there Speedy, Green Arrow's partner, has a fit, saying he's not a sidekick, he's his partner, and walks out, leaving the three others there while the senior members go off on an emergency. But then they decide to help on their own. This takes them to Cadmus laboratories in Washington DC. The lab is doing clandestine genetic experiments deep underground and there are loads of wild looking creatures. The Guardian is their head of security but he's being controlled by these small psychic creatures called g-nomes. The young superheroes are captured and all looks bleak, until they get help from an unexpected source. Cadmus has cloned Superman and this "Superboy" decides to help them.
In the end there's a big confrontation and the Doctor in charge of the experiments takes a solution which turns him in to a huge, "Hulk"-like creature. This whole sequence sort of reminded me of something out of a RESIDENT EVIL movie.
Although they've uncovered all the bad stuff Cadmus was doing the Justice League members are pissed--and Superman doesn't know quite what to do with his clone. And this young team insists they'll still do their thing, whether or not the JLA helps them. In the end they are set up at an old JLA base by Batman. And they are introduced to another member, the niece (?) of the Martian Manhunter, Miss Martian (!).
I liked this pilot movie. It's definitely along the lines of the recent JLA and LEGION OF SUPERHERO series. Recommended.
